Spoken word, Parkour, Dance and Art.
Let's empower young girls to realize their dreams and "reach for the stars!" The goal is to encourage the fostering of daily activities within father-daughter relationship and build a loving bond while strengthening family ties and building community. Join us twice a month for Father- Daughter workshops on Spoken Word where young girls work on Poetry that expresses their inner being. Girls team up with Parkour instructors, NYC and internationally based professional dancers, and Local artists.
Stand up and Speak/ Unapologetically ME
Fathers and daughters will get the opportunity to work alongside a public speaker or drama instructors to practice the gift of gab. Girls oftentimes lose their strength of voice and the ability to stand within their truth. Quality time and vocal interaction with their fathers can help bolster their self belief and voice. The culminating activity of a speech will demonstrate their assertion to shine through unapologetically.
The Lunchtime Lecture Demonstration Series
The Lunchtime Lecture Demonstration Series is an educational program that is intended to introduce the students to their first performing arts experience. The program offers a series of free afternoon performances, each of which is followed by a question and answer session with the participating artists. The artists also occasionally visit the students in school for additional discussions and performances. These can be offered independently or as a start of a residency period.
In-class Workshops
At the core of our educational activities is our in-school and after-school programs at local elementary and high schools, in and around Lisbon. While the program provides a range of benefits to students, the overarching goal of the in-school workshops is to do the following:
*increase writing and verbal language skills,
*provide a safe and nurturing environment where students can express themselves, build confidence
*foster respect cross-culturally
*To offer young people (often for the very first time) tangible experiences with live performance, experimental theater, music, dance and other interdisciplinary genres.
These beneficial lesson plans are created for and coordinated with the teaching curriculum specific to the grade. These take place over the course of eight to ten weeks with a one time weekly visit from the teaching artist. The final project is a culminating presentation at the end of the period spent.
